A new post! It's a miracle

Hello lovely! It's been so long. Yes, I do know that is my fault, and you have my deepest apologies for that. We've all read the blogs where the blogger apologizes for being gone so long, so I won't make this too long. Luckily, I'm back! I hope you all missed me! :)

First, I want to say that Jane Russell died today at age 89. She was a sex symbol in the 50's and I am truly sad that we've lost another Hollywood icon. My wife and I were watching Gentlemen Prefer Blondes just a month or two ago and it had this scene:

We both were amazed that she was supposed to be ogling the jocks and athletes and while  there were some with muscles, nobody had huge pecs or 6 packs. I mean NOBODY has a 6 pack. If this scene were to be shot today, every man that was cast would be hairless, ripped, and buff. And, while Jane Russell is a thin woman, she is not the emaciated star that we see now. If you watch her, you can see a little upper arm jiggle.

My point is that we are all told that what is hot is starvation for a woman or to look like he-man if you are a man. These actors had regular bodies. Sure, I'm sure some of the men exercised, but I bet nobody had a regimen of pills or powders or injections to give them a body that nature didn't intend anyone to have!

Also, the FDA approved the lap band for lower BMI's. What does that mean? Well, that means that smaller people can get life threatening surgery. Why should we care? Well, Big Fat Blog explained the ins and outs of the official announcement best. But, ultimately, that means that:

this is the size that the FDA considers big enough to need to risk their life on a procedure to lose weight. Really? This girl, in my opinion, is chubby at best. I know we've all seen the newsreels that show masses of headless torsos of fat people and most people think of "obese" as being someone that is really fat. This is "obese". Doesn't this strike anyone as odd? This body isn't the barely able to walk monstrosity of flesh, filth and sickness that we've been lead to believe equals obesity. This is...your mom, your girlfriend, your sister, the girl behind the counter at the coffee shop and any other women you might meet in your day. New studies are coming out all the time that admit that the fat=unhealthy that we've been fed for so long isn't as true as they thought. It turns out that you can be fat and healthy or thin and unhealthy...or any variation of the two.

Ultimately, just love you. It's a crazy proposition! If you loved your body, at the size it is now, imagine how much nicer life would be. If trying on clothes wasn't an emotional landmine and if an item of clothing was too small it was no more than that, how much more fun would fashion be? If you didn't hear a constant stream of insults in your mind, telling you lies and saying you aren't pretty enough, good enough, smart enough, etc. how much better would your mood and your life be? It's possible, it really is. You have to do it though. You have to make that decision.

At the end of the day, we gotta get over all this hatred! I love you, and I thank you for taking the time to read. I truly hope that you have a wonderful day. I hope that you take some time just for you today and do something that makes you feel good.

Also, I wanted to share (later than anticipated!) our very first submission! Woot!

This is Jessica:

This is her on the way to see Lady Gaga. Go Jessica! Flaunt it!

As always, I am sending out happy thoughts and fairy dust to all my friends and would love to hear from y'all. If you have a picture of you loving life, or that you love, or that is inspiring to you, email me and I'll post it. Thanks again for stopping by y'all!

Cee-Lo's new song

Dear world,

I have been given a lovely gift that I would like to bestow upon you. If you have ever had a relationship go bad, or just plain didn't like someone...

The this song is for you! This is Cee-Lo Green's new song. (BEWARE - THIS SONG CONTAINS FOUL LANGUAGE, LISTEN AT YOUR OWN RISK)

Voila!

I love this song, but also, I LOVE THIS VIDEO! I love the simplicity of it and I love how the song becomes etched into your brain. I also love the smaller asides of the song, the ooo, ooo, ooos etc.

This made me smile today, and I hope it makes you.

Anyone else want to contribute a song, or anything else that made them happy today?

It's Friday!

So, as if that wasn't positive enough for us, I've had a great day so far. I hope you all are too!

If not, then watch this

It is hilarious! I bet you laugh! BTW, I very much believe that you decide your fate by deciding to be positive or to be negative. Please, see that silver lining. It's a beautiful world that we live in, and every breath we take is precious, because it is not promised to us.

Happy Weekend Guys!

Fat, Beautiful Super Model

While I love plus size clothing becoming more and more available. I HATE that they put the clothes on skinny girls. You're a size 10 or 12? You aren't fat! You aren't even "plus size"

But this:

is Velvet d'Amour. She is a plus size supermodel. She is a size 26/28! That is a real life fat girl, walking down the runway for John Galliano and Jean Paul Gaultier. She's also 39 years old. Let's all bow to beautiful women who are not teenagers and who have a variety of shapes, up to and including no doubt about it fat!

Here she is rocking lingerie on the runway in Paris, you know...just another day at work...

In a magazine layout:

One last one:

So? What do you think? Sometimes as a bigger than your average bear kinda girl, I can think yeah, chubby girls are cute...but I'm not chubby.

Neither is Velvet, and she's gorgeous, and full of rolls and and cellulite and all the stuff that "they" say we aren't supposed to have, or love.

This made me happy today, what made you happy?

Please Email me with pics, videos, or even just a note of what made you happy. It doesn't have to be body positive, it can be anything!

Inaugrural Post

My intention with this blog, is to bring some joy into your life. Hopefully, eventually, throughout the day. I want to fight the negativity that we are bombarded with happiness, joy, and love. I want to get others to share what makes them happy, so we can all get a taste. I'd also like to get people to post pics of themselves, so we can see the beautiful variety that the human body gives us. For those of us who have been told that we are too fat, too skinny, too short, too tall, too dark, light, blond, hairy, whatever! You are beautiful! I am beautiful. I would love to build a community of love and acceptance for all.

I'll go first...

I love this picture, because I'd just gotten my hair cut and I had a dress, makeup and jewelry on! I felt good, and got lots of compliments. It was a good day.
